Three weekends a month over summer, one through winter. Shore dives suit everyone from Ocean Divers up; the wrecks and the walls need a bit more depth behind you.
BSAC grades
BSAC training is progressive and club-taught. You start in a pool and finish, if you want to, leading dives to fifty metres.
An hour in the pool with an instructor. No kit, no commitment.
Your first dives in open water, always alongside an instructor.
The entry qualification. Dive with a buddy of any grade.
Rescue skills, deeper dives, and buddying less experienced divers.
Plan and lead dives for the club. Where most members end up.
The top grades — expedition planning, and BSAC's toughest assessment.
On the calendar
Meet in the car park. Two dives, bring lunch. Suits Ocean Divers and up.
Boat from Whangarei. Six spaces. Sports Diver minimum.
Two nights, four dives, one barbecue. Partners welcome.
